PROGRES.ID – The long-awaited moment has finally arrived, Vin Diesel will once again portray Xander Cage in the fourth installment of the eagerly awaited XXX franchise. After a six-year hiatus since the release of XXX: Return of Xander Cage in 2017, good news has emerged from the production company The H Collective (THC), confirming that XXX 4 is currently in development.
According to a report from Deadline, XXX 4 has already been listed among the upcoming productions by THC, alongside the sequel to the superhero horror film Brightburn. DJ Caruso, the director of the third film, has also been announced to return as the director of this installment, taking us on another thrilling adventure with Xander Cage.
However, things haven’t been as smooth as expected due to legal issues raised by Weying Galaxy Entertainment. They claim that The H Collective and Vin Diesel violated the contract regarding the production rights for XXX 4. This lawsuit is still ongoing, causing a delay in the production of the fourth film.
Nevertheless, Vin Diesel seems to be trying to raise the expectations of fans through his social media posts. He shared a nostalgic photo with his teammate from Return of Xander Cage, Deepika Padukone, in India. In the photo caption, Vin Diesel expressed his gratitude for visiting various countries, including India, and experiencing their beautiful cultures.
In June, Vin Diesel also shared another photo with Deepika Padukone, the Bollywood star who made her Hollywood debut in Return of Xander Cage. He referred to Deepika Padukone as one of his favorite co-stars in acting and thanked her for bringing him to India.
To jog your memory, the first film in the XXX franchise was released in 2002, telling the story of Xander Cage, played by Vin Diesel, an extreme sports enthusiast and stuntman recruited as a super-spy for the National Security Agency (NSA). Its sequel, XXX: State of the Union, was released in 2005, but Diesel and the original director, Rob Cohen, stepped away due to differences in the script.
Vin Diesel returned to the XXX world in 2017 with its third installment, XXX: Return of Xander Cage. The film also featured several A-list stars like Kris Wu, Ruby Rose, Tony Jaa, Nina Dobrev, Toni Collette, Ariadna Gutierrez, Hermione Corfield, and Samuel L. Jackson. Even the renowned footballer Neymar made a cameo appearance in the film.
Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics, XXX: Return of Xander Cage achieved significant success at the box office. According to Box Office Mojo, the film grossed $44.9 million in North America and reached $301.4 million in other regions. Consequently, the film’s net revenue amounted to $346.3 million, far surpassing its $85 million production budget, as reported by beritasatu.com.
With this news, we can’t help but be excited to witness Xander Cage’s return in XXX 4. Despite the legal hurdles that need to be resolved, the hopes and enthusiasm of fans cannot be contained. Hopefully, we’ll soon get to see Vin Diesel’s thrilling action in his iconic role once again!
