Getting to Know Catherine Hindra Sutjahyo, the New President of Gojek

PROGRES.ID – Catherine Hindra Sutjahyo, a seasoned professional in the field of management and marketing, has been appointed as the new President of Gojek. Prior to joining the company, Catherine held several key positions in various multinational companies, including PepsiCo and Unilever. With her vast experience in leading and transforming businesses, she is expected to bring a fresh perspective to Gojek’s operations and drive the company’s growth.

Catherine has a strong track record of success in developing and implementing effective business strategies. During her time at Unilever, she was responsible for driving the company’s growth in Southeast Asia and improving its operational efficiency. She also played a key role in the development and launch of several successful products, including Lipton Milk Tea and Lifebuoy.

After leaving Unilever, Catherine joined PepsiCo, where she held a number of senior management positions. In her most recent role as the Senior Vice President of Marketing for Asia Pacific, she was responsible for driving the growth of PepsiCo’s beverage portfolio across the region.

In her new role at Gojek, Catherine will be responsible for overseeing the company’s day-to-day operations and driving its growth in the highly competitive ride-hailing and on-demand services market. With her extensive experience in the consumer goods industry, she is well-equipped to lead Gojek through its next phase of growth and expansion.

Catherine Hindra Sutjahyo was born on September 20, 1981, in Jakarta. She completed her undergraduate studies at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), majoring in Urban and Regional Planning. After graduation, she started her career at a consulting firm and then moved to Boston Consulting Group (BCG) as a consultant for four years.

In 2013, Catherine joined Gojek as the Director of Operations and played a crucial role in expanding the company’s services beyond transportation. She led the launch of Go-Food, Gojek’s food delivery service, which has since become one of the company’s most significant businesses. She also helped develop Gojek’s logistics business, which now includes services such as Go-Send and Go-Box.

In 2019, Catherine was promoted to Co-Chief Operating Officer (Co-COO) alongside Andre Soelistyo, and together they helped lead Gojek through its merger with Tokopedia, Indonesia’s largest e-commerce platform. After the merger, Catherine was appointed as the CEO of Gojek’s payments and financial services division, GoPay.

On February 22, 2023, Gojek announced that Catherine Hindra Sutjahyo would take over as the company’s new President, succeeding Kevin Aluwi, who had served as President since 2019. Catherine will be responsible for leading Gojek’s overall strategy and operations, including its continued expansion into new markets and businesses.

Catherine’s appointment as President makes her one of the few female leaders of a major technology company in Indonesia. She is known for her strong leadership skills, strategic vision, and deep knowledge of the Indonesian market. Under her leadership, Gojek is expected to continue its rapid growth and expansion, while also remaining focused on its mission to improve the lives of millions of people in Indonesia and beyond.
