PROGRES.ID – Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated the operation of the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Train (KCJB) at the KCJB Halim Station in East Jakarta on Monday (02/10/2023) morning.
“In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, I declare the operation of the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Train Whoosh,” said the President.
The President revealed that Whoosh is an abbreviation of “Waktu Hemat, Operasi Optimal, Sistem Hebat” which translates to “Time Saving, Optimal Operation, Great System” in English.
Whoosh, which is the first high-speed train in Indonesia and Southeast Asia, can travel at speeds of up to 350 kilometers per hour. This train connecting Jakarta and Bandung has a total track length of 142.3 kilometers with four stopping stations, namely Halim, Karawang, Padalarang, and Tegalluar.
Whoosh features spacious and modern interior design divided into three classes with a total capacity of up to 601 passengers. Facilities inside the train include power outlets, luggage racks, a mini bar, purse hooks, and accessible toilets.
W-H-O-O-S-H itself consists of words like “Time Saving,” “Optimal Operation,” and “Great System,” which are commonly heard and used in various contexts.
