PROGRES.ID – Indonesian President, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), has called for a halt to the violence in the ongoing conflict between Palestine and Israel, with the aim of preventing a larger humanitarian crisis.
“Indonesia urges an immediate cessation of hostilities and violence to prevent further loss of human lives and extensive property destruction because the escalation of the conflict can lead to more significant humanitarian consequences,” the President stated in his official release on the Presidential Palace website, Jakarta, on Tuesday (10/10/2023).
The President also encourages the resolution of the root causes of the conflict between Palestine and Israel in accordance with the parameters previously agreed upon.
“The root of this conflict, namely the occupation of Palestinian territory by Israel, must be resolved promptly following the parameters established by the United Nations,” he emphasized.
Furthermore, the President conveyed that he has instructed relevant officials to take swift action in order to protect Indonesian citizens (WNI) in conflict zones.
“I request the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the related ministry officials to take prompt action to protect Indonesian citizens in conflict zones,” the President urged.
