PROGRES.ID – Times Higher Education (THE), a ranking institution, has recently released the World University Rankings 2024, encompassing 1,904 universities across 108 countries and regions, including the best universities in the Asian region. As reported by detik.com, THE WUR 2024 ranking evaluates institutions based on 18 carefully calibrated performance indicators, measuring their performance in five key areas: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry engagement, and international outlook.
This ranking also analyzes more than 134 million citations from 16.5 million research publications and includes survey responses from 68,402 researchers worldwide. In total, there are 411,789 data points from over 2,673 institutions that submitted data. This serves as evidence that THE WUR is trusted globally by students, educators, governments, and industry experts.

Unfortunately, in the THE WUR 2024 ranking, universities in Indonesia did not make it to the top 10 to 100 in Asia or the top 500 globally. The best-ranking university in Indonesia falls in the range of 801-1000 globally, occupied by the University of Indonesia (UI). This means that UI is the best university in Indonesia according to THE WUR 2024.
Meanwhile, the second and third best-ranking universities in Indonesia are the Airlangga University (Unair) and the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), both falling within the range of 1201-1500 globally.
